Bob Curtis, Captain

As a teenager Bob had an opportunity to sail a handful of times in the US Virgin Islands, but growing up on a rural farm in Ohio his experience on the water was mostly centered around ski and pontoon boats on lakes. Much later in life in his 40s, he and Melinda were invited to spend 9 days on a catamaran owned by some friends, and was pleasantly surprised that Melinda thoroughly enjoyed the experience as well. With a renewed passion for sailing, the journey to learn and build experience began in earnest, with a dream of one day sailing to beautiful and remote locations together with Melinda.

Melinda Curtis, The Admiral

Melinda was never impressed with monohulls… nice enough for a sunny afternoon sail, but couldn’t imagine living below decks on one, or being on long passages heeled over. Then in 2014 she experienced what life on a sailing catamaran could be like and was ‘hooked’. Now more than a decade later, side-by-side with Bob, she has sailed over 5k+ nm, obtained 6 American Sailing Association (ASA) and offshore emergency medicine certifications, attended countless seminars and boat shows, and has chartered and crewed numerous vessels.

Zoe - The First Mate

Zoe maintains near constant watch at the helm or is nearby in the cockpit awaiting orders. When not on duty, Zoe can be found watching birds, riding in the provision wagon or listening to the wind. Zoe loves being at anchor.

Emme - The Second Mate

Emme is often engaged in pest control of the sky raisins (aka flying insects), keeping watch at the chart table or supervising the galley. Emme enjoys joining the crew at the coffee shop.

In Memoriam: Milo, The First Mate

On Nov 18, 2020, we bid farewell to our first mate Milo. Milo unfortunately, after a 3 year remission, lost his battle against lymphoma. We were fortunate that Milo was able to and loved spending time onboard. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

8 bells little buddy… we’ve got the watch.
